Identity Theft is the usage of someone else personal detailed information without their knowledge for credit or monetary gain.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY TOPIC



Have you ever imagined another YOU!!! Yes existing without your knowledge. Well truth is, it’s possible and you might not even know it.

The Law of Attraction states that: you are what you attract did you perhaps create another YOU! Because “Thoughts become things”. Hence your own identity might be stolen from YOU!

I know it sounds delusional truth be told “Identity Theft” exits in this modern era …WATCH OUT!!! You might just be a victim.hahaha…

TYPES OF IDENTITY THEFT

·         Social Security Fraud- When a person uses someone else information to buy or sell cards.

·         Financial Identity Theft-This is when someone’s financial information is taken with the aim to make transactions or purchases.

·         Child Identity Theft-Is the identity theft of a minor child.


·         Employment Identity Theft- Simply explained it involves all types of crimes. That include fraud and deception.Types of identity theft

RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW TO USE THE INTERNET OR SOCIAL MEDIA IN A SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE WAY

·         It’s essential that people be responsible digital citizens on these platforms and understand the digital space.

·         The SaveTnet educates people about “Digital Footprint “and the importance of being aware of the people and things you follow and like online.
GOALS
·         To inform and educate the users of these different social media platforms, gives solutions as well if they in trouble.

·         The SaveTnet continue to work hard to create awareness to ensure people use these platforms in a responsible way.



·         This is an organization that helps children that are abuse victims in South Africa.

·         This organization aims to protect and provide for these children.


HOW TO PREVENT IDENTITY THEFT


·         Check your bank details and documents every month.

·         Check with your financial institution that nobody is making inquires against your name.


·         Don’t throw away papers, documents or statements listing your personal or financial details. 

                                         

In conclusion it is very important to keep all personal documents in a safe place,ensure if they on your phone you have passwords.Identity Theft is a serious issue that needs attention especially in our country (South Africa) with regard to the high crime rate.

  1. Identity theft is the worst thing that a person can experience imagine the other me without even knowing. I'm not sure if I can attract such a horror though since you said thoughts do become things. people need to be safe and see who they share personal information with.

  5. Identity theft is an important issue. Yet, our new generation thinks it is only happening in movies. While reality is knocking and saying "you might be the next victim' of identity theft. If you are ignorant on checking your personal document or bank details regularly.

  6. Identity theft is indeed something so prevalent in modern day society. Especially in a crime infested country like South Africa. That's why it is of the utmost importance that we keep our personal details a secret so as to avoid unfortunate incidences of identity theft which I believe is the worst kind of theft and a personal violation.

  9. wow very informative piece. That's why i support paperless transactions. Although most of things are done digital now, cyber crime is also hard at work. We just need to be careful in anyway we use our information and important documents. Thanks for this info

Ive realised that most of the people who visits Home Affairs are people who goes there to complain about Identity theft, saying that their IDs were lost or stolen then later on realise that someone in Mpumalanga is using it to do something illegal Thank You Mpho Lephuthi for opening our eyes once again.
