Identity Theft is the usage of someone else personal detailed information without their knowledge for credit or monetary gain.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF MY TOPIC



Have you ever imagined another YOU!!! Yes existing without your knowledge. Well truth is, it’s possible and you might not even know it.

The Law of Attraction states that: you are what you attract did you perhaps create another YOU! Because “Thoughts become things”. Hence your own identity might be stolen from YOU!

I know it sounds delusional truth be told “Identity Theft” exits in this modern era …WATCH OUT!!! You might just be a victim.hahaha…

TYPES OF IDENTITY THEFT

·         Social Security Fraud- When a person uses someone else information to buy or sell cards.

·         Financial Identity Theft-This is when someone’s financial information is taken with the aim to make transactions or purchases.

·         Child Identity Theft-Is the identity theft of a minor child.


·         Employment Identity Theft- Simply explained it involves all types of crimes. That include fraud and deception.Types of identity theft

RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW TO USE THE INTERNET OR SOCIAL MEDIA IN A SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE WAY

·         It’s essential that people be responsible digital citizens on these platforms and understand the digital space.

HOW TO PREVENT IDENTITY THEFT


·         Check your bank details and documents every month.

·         Check with your financial institution that nobody is making inquires against your name.


·         Don’t throw away papers, documents or statements listing your personal or financial details. 

                                         

In conclusion it is very important to keep all personal documents in a safe place,ensure if they on your phone you have passwords.Identity Theft is a serious issue that needs attention especially in our country (South Africa) with regard to the high crime rate.
